The Best Vegan and Vegetarian Spots in Phoenix | health is wellth

I love seeing plant-based dining have its moment as more veggie-centric restaurants are popping up all over! There are plenty of healthy eating options in Phoenix, so I compiled my favorite vegan and vegetarian eateries in the valley. Even if you aren’t vegan or vegetarian, some of these restaurants may have you wanting to start your own plant-based lifestyle!

Flower Child
Flower Child Phoenix Arizona

Flower Child

This plant-based chain serves up super fresh and healthy ingredients. The menu at Flower Child is built for vegans and vegetarians, but also offers chicken, salmon and beef with any selection. Beyond creating delicious food from scratch, Flower Child’s menu refreshes regularly, incorporating in-season ingredients. The atmosphere is cute and colorful with a little boho chic flare. This restaurant is a gem and is definitely a go-to for healthy and tasty eats in Phoenix.

Pomegranate Cafe

This vegan and vegetarian restaurant is definitely one of the best in Phoenix. Pomegranate Cafe offers a vegan-centric menu (with vegetarian options) that is also 100% non-GMO and 98% organic. Though the menu is a little pricey, the food is delicious and the portions are very generous. No matter what you are in the mood for, Pomegranate Cafe has an extensive menu with plenty of creative options. Make sure you leave room for dessert, because the vegan pastries here are so good!

Barrio Cafe Gran Reserva
Barrio Cafe Gran Reserva Phoenix Arizona

Barrio Cafe Gran Reserva

This intimate, elegant-casual restaurant creates inventive dishes by using rare ingredients from around Mexico. Make no mistake, Barrio Cafe Gran Reserva is not your typical Mexican restaurant. This spot offers a great vegan/vegetarian menu, with unique and complex flavors that often reminded me so much of the food I had in Puebla, Mexico. If you come here, go for the vegan/vegetarian 5-course tasting menu as you get a taste of everything.

Beyond the food, the best part of Barrio Cafe is Phillip. Consider him as your culinary concierge because his extensive knowledge about the symphony of flavors you will savor just amplifies the whole experience. He and this restaurant are such gems! So make sure to make a reservation ahead of time as this restaurant has limited seating.

La Grande Orange Grocery & Pizzeria

La Grande Orange is a cafe and local market with a chill vibe. However, sometimes that changes to a more buzzy vibe as this restaurant is quite popular. Though this isn’t considered a vegan or vegetarian restaurant, it serves up some tasty plant-based (and gluten-free!) options. So definitely come to La Grande Orange for the vegan pizzas and desserts, and stay for the interesting gifts and nick knacks, as the market is a perfect place to get last minute gifts. Get there early since the parking lot is small and this place gets rather busy.

Teaspressa Phoenix Arizona

Teaspressa is definitely one of the cutest cafes I have ever seen. This adorable tea shop is tucked away in a very low key area in Arcadia. Covered in millennial pink tones and with hundreds of flowers hanging from the ceiling, this bright and airy cafe is highly Instagrammable. But it is also highly-caffeinated, since Teaspressa brews their tea as if it were coffee — so you get more caffeine but with all the benefits of tea. Beyond being cute and serving up delicious tea, this spot is vegan-friendly with all-natural, certified organic teas with nut milk options. Oh, and definitely get the black rose tea with rose petals (my personal favorite)!

Verdura is fairly new to the Phoenix vegan and vegetarian restaurant scene, and it’s already serving up plant-based eats in its own way. This vinyl-themed restaurant plays old school rock and offers some very creative and tasty vegan food options. If you are feeling adventurous, go for the mushroom po’boy or the general pow cauliflower. It may be on the pricey side, but in typical Phoenix style, the portions are generous.

The Coronado PHX

This vegan and vegetarian spot is pretty unique because it is located in an old residential home. The Coronado is a cozy eatery that does it all with plant-based breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the comfortable atmosphere will make you feel right at home. If you swing by to this Phoenix vegan and vegetarian restaurant, definitely get the cauliflower tacos or one of the veggie burgers. Also come for the daily happy hour from 3-6pm for specials on cocktails and appetizers!

Dark Hall Coffee

This goth cafe is completely vegan serving up smooth and delicious coffee and tea. Unlike the typical coffeehouse, the vibe at Dark Hall Coffee is indeed dark and quirky, but still has its own charm. The best part of this totally vegan cafe, is that all of the nut milks and baked goods are homemade in-house. So go ahead and grab a fresh brew and a pastry (the blackout cake is a solid choice).
